This battle was fought between the French army led by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and the Prussian army led by Field Marshal Charles William Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick. The battle was a decisive victory for the French, resulting in the capture of over 10,000 Prussian soldiers.

Today, visitors can still see remnants of the battle, including the nearby monument and memorial cemetery. Auerstedt is also home to several other historical landmarks, such as the 300-year-old Auerworld Palace and the beautiful Saint Nicholas Church.
