The Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, commonly known as Libya, was a North African country located on the Mediterranean coast. This country, with its capital in Tripoli, was ruled by Muammar Gaddafi from 1969 until his overthrow in 2011. Libya was known for its vast desert landscapes, ancient ruins, and rich history.

Libya was situated in the Maghreb region of North Africa, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north. It shared its borders with several countries, including Egypt to the east, Sudan to the southeast, Chad and Niger to the south, and Algeria and Tunisia to the west. The country covered an area of approximately 1.8 million square kilometers, making it the fourth largest country in Africa.

The Libyan Arab Jamahiriya was established by Muammar Gaddafi after a successful military coup in 1969. Gaddafi implemented his own political ideology, known as the Third International Theory, which aimed to create a stateless society based on direct democracy. The country was organized into Basic People's Congresses, where citizens participated in decision-making processes.

Libya was known for its vast oil reserves, which played a significant role in its economy. The country relied heavily on oil exports, which accounted for the majority of its revenue. However, Gaddafi's regime faced criticism for its alleged human rights abuses, lack of political freedom, and suppression of dissent.
