Bududa

Bududa is a district located in the Eastern Region of Uganda. It is situated in the foothills of Mount Elgon, approximately 275 kilometers northeast of the capital city, Kampala. The district covers an area of about 334 square kilometers and is home to a population of over 200,000 people.

One of the notable features of Bududa is its breathtaking landscape. The district is characterized by lush green hills, fertile valleys, and cascading waterfalls. The majestic Mount Elgon, which is an extinct volcano, dominates the skyline and provides a stunning backdrop to the area.

Bududa is primarily an agricultural region, with farming being the main source of livelihood for the majority of its inhabitants. The fertile soil and favorable climate make it ideal for cultivating a variety of crops such as coffee, bananas, maize, beans, and potatoes. The district is also known for its tea plantations, which contribute significantly to the local economy.

Despite its natural beauty and agricultural potential, Bududa faces several challenges. The region is prone to landslides, which have caused significant loss of life and property over the years. The hilly terrain, coupled with heavy rainfall, makes the area highly susceptible to erosion and soil degradation.
