The municipality of Calcinaia contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Caprona, Fornacette, Il Castellaccio, Le Case, Molina, Ponte a Niccheri, San Giovanni alla Vena, and Il Tamagnone.

Calcinaia borders the following municipalities: Bientina, Buti, Calci, Cascina, Lucca and Vicopisano.
