Coolidge

Calvin Coolidge was the 30th President of the United States, serving from 1923 to 1929. He became president following the sudden death of President Warren G. Harding. Coolidge is often remembered as a low-key and reserved leader, but his presidency was marked by significant achievements.

During his time in office, the United States experienced a period of economic growth known as the "Roaring Twenties." Coolidge promoted business growth through his policies of tax cuts, reduced government spending, and limited regulation. He also signed the Revenue Act of 1926, which lowered income taxes for many Americans.

Coolidge was also known for his commitment to civil rights, particularly for African Americans. He appointed African Americans to federal positions and civil service jobs and spoke out against racism and discrimination. However, he was criticized for not taking stronger action to address the oppression faced by African Americans in the South.

Coolidge's foreign policy was characterized by a commitment to isolationism and non-intervention. He signed treaties with several countries, including Germany and Mexico, and initiated the Kellogg-Briand Pact, which sought to reduce global tensions through a commitment to peace. However, his foreign policy approach was also criticized for ignoring the growing threat of Nazi Germany.
