Ebon

The Ebon Atoll, also known as Ebon Island, is a small coral atoll located in the Marshall Islands. It is part of the Ralik Chain, which is situated in the central Pacific Ocean. Ebon Atoll is one of the 29 atolls and five single islands that make up the Marshall Islands.

The atoll is relatively isolated, located approximately 400 miles southwest of the capital city of Majuro. It covers a total land area of about 5 square miles and consists of 22 islets surrounding a central lagoon. The largest islet is called Ebon, which is where the majority of the population resides.

Ebon Atoll has a rich history and cultural heritage. It was first inhabited by Micronesian settlers around 1000 BCE and has been under the control of various colonial powers throughout history. Today, the atoll is part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, an independent nation with close ties to the United States.

The economy of Ebon Atoll is primarily based on subsistence fishing and agriculture. The residents rely on the lagoon and surrounding ocean for their livelihoods, catching fish, crabs, and shellfish. Coconut palms and breadfruit trees are also grown on the islets, providing a source of food and materials. Despite its remote location, Ebon Atoll has limited infrastructure, including a small airstrip and a few basic amenities for its residents.
