Enid

Enid is a city located in Garfield County, Oklahoma, United States. It serves as the county seat and is the ninth-largest city in the state. Situated in the north-central part of Oklahoma, Enid is approximately 78 miles north of Oklahoma City. The city covers an area of about 74 square miles and has a population of over 50,000 residents.

Enid has a rich history that dates back to the Land Run of 1893, when settlers rushed to claim land in the Cherokee Outlet. The city was named after Enid, a character in Alfred, Lord Tennyson's famous poem, "Idylls of the King." Enid quickly grew into a prosperous agricultural community due to its fertile soil and favorable climate.

Today, Enid is known for its diverse economy, which includes agriculture, oil and gas production, manufacturing, healthcare, and aviation industries. The city is home to Vance Air Force Base, which plays a significant role in training future pilots for the United States Air Force. Enid also boasts a vibrant downtown area with numerous shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
