Immokalee

Immokalee is a census-designated place located in Collier County, Florida, United States. It is situated in the southwestern part of the state, about 35 miles southeast of Fort Myers. Immokalee has a population of approximately 25,000 people and covers an area of 23.1 square miles, of which 22.7 square miles is land and 0.4 square miles is water.

The economy of Immokalee is largely dependent on agriculture, with tomatoes being the primary crop produced in the area. The town is home to many farms and packing houses, and its workforce is largely made up of migrant workers who come from Mexico, Guatemala, Haiti, and other countries. The town is also home to several large corporations, including Arthrex, one of the world's leading manufacturers of orthopedic medical devices.

Despite its economic importance, Immokalee has struggled with poverty and low educational attainment among its residents. The town has a poverty rate of 39.4%, compared to the statewide rate of 14.7%. The majority of residents have limited English proficiency, making education and access to healthcare difficult. However, there are several organizations in Immokalee working to address these issues and improve the quality of life for residents.
