Lilly Ledbetter was an influential figure in the United States who played a significant role in the fight for gender equality in the workplace. Born on April 14, 1938 in Jacksonville, Alabama, she became an emblematic symbol for advocating for equal pay for women. Ledbetter's story gained national attention when she took her former employer, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, to court in a groundbreaking gender discrimination case.

Ledbetter worked at Goodyear for 19 years, where she endured unequal pay compared to her male counterparts. She filed a lawsuit in 1998, arguing that the company had violated the Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
