Janet Lim-Napoles is a controversial figure in the Philippines, known for her involvement in a massive corruption scandal that rocked the nation. Born on January 15, 1964, Napoles gained prominence as the alleged mastermind behind the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.

The PDAF, also known as the pork barrel fund, was a government program aimed at funding local projects and development initiatives. However, under Napoles' watch, the PDAF was exploited by politicians and government officials who siphoned off billions of pesos for personal gain.

In 2013, the scandal broke out when whistleblower Benhur Luy, a former employee of Napoles, revealed the intricate web of corruption that involved lawmakers, government agencies, and fraudulent non-governmental organizations (NGOs) set up by Napoles. These NGOs were used as fronts to receive PDAF funds, which were then funneled back to corrupt individuals.
