Roman

Roman Romania, also known as Roman Dacia, was a province located in the eastern part of the Roman Empire. It encompassed the territory of present-day Romania and parts of neighboring countries. As one of the easternmost provinces of the empire, Roman Romania played a crucial role in defending the empire's borders against various invasions from barbarian tribes.

The province of Roman Romania was established in 106 AD after the Roman Emperor Trajan conquered the Kingdom of Dacia. The Dacians, an ancient Thracian people, fiercely resisted Roman rule but were eventually defeated. With the capture of their capital Sarmizegetusa, the Romans gained control over the region and established a firmly Romanized province.

Under Roman rule, Roman Romania experienced significant development and urbanization. Numerous cities were founded, and existing settlements were expanded and transformed into flourishing centers of economy and culture. Roman colonies such as Apulum (modern-day Alba Iulia) and Napoca (modern-day Cluj-Napoca) were established, boasting impressive architecture, infrastructure, and public spaces.

Roman Romania also witnessed the construction of impressive roads, fortifications, and aqueducts, ensuring efficient communication and defense across the province. The Romans heavily invested in the exploitation of the rich natural resources of the region, including gold, silver, and salt, which further contributed to the prosperity of Roman Romania.
