Tanzania, officially known as the United Republic of Tanzania, is an East African country located on the eastern coast of the continent. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south. With an estimated population of over 60 million people, Tanzania is the 13th largest country in Africa and is known for its rich cultural diversity.

The country's largest city is Dar es Salaam, situated on the eastern coast of Tanzania, while Dodoma serves as the capital city. Although Dodoma became the official capital in 1996, most government offices and embassies remain in Dar es Salaam. The country's geography boasts diverse landscapes, including the vast Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest peak in Africa, and the tropical beaches of Zanzibar.

Tanzania has a diverse ethnic makeup, with more than 120 different ethnic groups residing within its borders. The most prominent ethnic groups are the Bantu-speaking groups, such as the Sukuma, Chagga, and Haya. Swahili and English serve as the official languages, fostering communication and unity among the various ethnic groups.
