Sonseca

Sonseca is a town in the province of Toledo, in the central Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha. Located about 30 kilometers southwest of Toledo, Sonseca has a population of roughly 7,000 people. It is situated at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level and covers an area of 71.73 square kilometers.

Sonseca has a rich history that can be traced back to the Roman era. The town's strategic location between Toledo and the Montes de Toledo made it an important commercial hub in ancient times. In the 11th century, Sonseca was conquered by the Moors and became part of the Caliphate of Cordoba. It was later reconquered by the Christians in the 12th century and came under the rule of the Kingdom of Castile.

Today, Sonseca is known for its traditional handicrafts, particularly its furniture industry. The town has a long tradition of woodworking, and many of its artisans are skilled in making high-quality furniture using traditional techniques. The town is also famous for its pimientos de Padrón, a type of small green pepper that is a popular tapa in Spain.
