Thakurgaon

Thakurgaon is a district located in the Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. It is situated in the northern part of the country and is bordered by Panchagarh and Dinajpur districts to the north, Panchagarh and Joypurhat districts to the south, Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts to the east, and Panchagarh and Dinajpur districts to the west. Thakurgaon has a total area of about 1,781 square kilometers and is divided into 10 upazilas or sub-districts.

The district is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. It was named after Thakur Das, a prominent local figure during the British Raj. Thakurgaon has a diverse population consisting of various ethnic groups, including Bengalis, Santals, and Rajbanshis. The district is also home to a number of indigenous communities who have preserved their unique traditions and customs over the years.

Thakurgaon boasts a picturesque landscape with lush green fields, meandering rivers, and rolling hills. The Tista River, one of the major rivers in Bangladesh, flows through the district, providing a source of livelihood for the local people.
