Lichtenburg

Lichtenburg is a town located in the North West Province of South Africa. Situated approximately 200 kilometers west of Johannesburg, it serves as the administrative center of the Ditsobotla Local Municipality. Lichtenburg is nestled in the heart of the maize and sunflower farming region, surrounded by vast fields of golden crops that stretch as far as the eye can see.

This peaceful town is steeped in history, with its origins dating back to the late 19th century. Lichtenburg was established in 1873 and named after the German town of the same name. It played a significant role during the Second Boer War, serving as the capital of the independent republic of Stellaland.
